  Shutdown is no longer a failure.

  A failed final checkpoint made the daemon exit 1 during an update restart, systemd marked the unit failed, and the updater left it down. The daemon now retries the checkpoint and exits 0 when a checkpoint error is the only one — WAL replay covers it at the next start.

  self-update no longer trusts systemctl restart's exit status: it clears the start-limit counter, polls ActiveState, and recovers a failed or never-started unit with reset-failed + start before reporting the restart done.
